We’re just two developers who grew up loving games. They were once our escape, our way to challenge ourselves, explore new worlds, and unwind after long days. But somewhere along the line, something changed. The games we used to love started to feel like work. What should have been fun became tedious. Worse, it felt like every turn was designed to squeeze more money out of us.

We watched as some of our favorite titles turned into cash grabs, filled with endless microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics. The industry we once admired had become obsessed with profit, often at the expense of players’ enjoyment. And frankly, we were frustrated.

So we asked ourselves: Why can’t games be fun and fair? Why do players have to choose between enjoying a game and getting nickel-and-dimed for it? That’s when we had the idea for Villainous Whale.

We’re here to make games that respect the player. Games that are designed for enjoyment, not for squeezing the most money out of every moment. Sure, we’re developers, and we need to make a living. But we believe there’s a better way, one where quality games can thrive without relying on predatory practices.
